Yara Shahidi, from the TV show "Blackish"   visited TYWLS.   She is very interested in the work we do.

A group of eighth graders from TYWLS traveled to the 92nd St Y and had an intimate conversation with authors Sandra Cisneros and Azar Nafisi.  The girls asked insightful questions and truly engaged with these authors.  They then attended a public reading of new works by the authors and received free copies of their newest books.  This was a rare opportunity to learn about the writing process and the importance of literature in our lives from two incredibly successful authors who generously gave up their time to talk with us.
