Our school is proud to partner with the Student Leadership Network's CollegeBound Initiative (CBI), a college access program that provides dedicated support to help our students navigate their path to higher education. TYWLS Manhattan has served as the flagship partner high school for Student Leadership Network since 1996, exemplifying the transformative impact of this partnership.
Through CBI, we have a full-time Director of College Counseling, Tyra Riedemonn embedded in our school who works with students in grades 6-12 to:
  • Build early college and career awareness through college visits, career exploration activities, and exposure to diverse educational pathways
  • Organize college trips to help students experience campus life firsthand and envision their future
  • Provide individualized support throughout the college application process
  • Maximize college access and financial aid awards
  • Create a college-bound culture where students don't question IF they'll go to college, but WHERE
CBI is part of the Student Leadership Network, which currently places Directors of College Counseling in 26 DOE public high schools across NYC. Students in CBI schools earn college degrees at double the rate of their peers nationally, and since 2001, CBI graduates have secured nearly $1 billion in scholarships and financial aid.
